Duration: 4 Hours Prerequisite Course(s): None Prerequisite Skills: Firm understanding of safe firearm handling. Age Requirements: 18+ Other Restrictions: All students must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents. Photo identification is required at check-in. See Required Materials below for approved identification.   About the Course Intro to AR is an introductory course for the AR-style platform firearm. AR rifles and pistols are permitted in this course. All firearms are required to have some form of stock to shoulder. The primary focus of this course is learning and practicing the fundamentals of shooting, handling, and marksmanship of an AR-style platform.  Students will start this course with classroom time that will cover firearm safety and topics such as parts of the AR, how to field strip, re-assemble, and conduct a proper function check. Once on the range, students will learn and apply topics such as proper loading/unloading techniques, shooting positions, sight alignment, sight picture, and more. Additional discussions will be covered. Examples include selecting the proper sights, slings, optics, and accessories for your needs will be covered.    Required Course Materials Non-Expired Photo Identification US Citizens: Non-expired US Driver's License, US State Issued Identification Card, or United States Passport. This photo identification cannot state "Limited-Term" Permanent Resident Aliens: Non-expired US Driver's License, US State Issued Identification Card, or United States Passport AND Permanent Resident Alien Card (Green Card). 1 AR-Style Firearm per student Firearm rentals are not permitted in this course. Students must bring their own firearms to use. Rifle and pistol AR variations are permitted. Installed Iron Sights or Optic All firearms must have an optic installed or installed front and rear sights. Firearm Case All firearms are required to be brought into the facility unloaded and placed in a firearm case. 60 Rounds of Ammunition Pricing varies by caliber. Approximately $16.99/box of 20 rounds of 5.56 NATO. Eye Protection Eye protection is available for purchase during check-in for $2.99. Students who wear prescription glasses may wear their glasses in lieu of the provided glasses. Shooting Earmuffs $3.50 rental fee. Available to be rented during course check-in. Shooting earmuffs are required to be worn while inside the range. Earplugs are not considered to be sufficient ear protection when worn alone Headphones, AirPods, or any other type of device that is not designed specifically for indoor shooting sports cannot be worn on the range.​​​​​​ 3 (30 Round) Magazines   Training Policies Registration Policy Student information provided during registration must reflect information as it's printed on photo identification. If you are paying for an additional student, please make sure you include their full name, telephone number and email address. This is how we confirm our rosters and completed waivers. Accurate information expedites our course check-in process. Rescheduling/Cancellation Policy A minimum of 72-hours notice must be given to a Triangle Shooting Academy Education Coordinator to be eligible for a reschedule, store credit, or partial refund. Notification given less than 72-hours notice will result in forfeiture of course payment. If notification is given 72-hours prior to your originally scheduled course, students may be rescheduled for a future course, receive a 90% refund or a 100% in-store credit. If a qualifying student wishes to reschedule, they will be permitted to move their seat to a future course one time. Please note that multiple reschedules are not permitted. Once a course is rescheduled a student cannot receive a refund, store credit or additional reschedule regardless of the amount of notice. MEDICAL EXCEPTION: If the 72-hour window has closed and a student cancels their training due to a medical emergency they will receive one reschedule at no additional cost if the student can provide a doctor’s note stating they could not attend that specific date and time. Refunds/Reschedules will not be issued if a student arrives without the required materials. This includes failure to bring proper identification or adhering to the age restrictions.
